Ijen Crater Tour Re-Open 6 April 2018

Ijen Crater Tour re-opened. This opening follows a Circular Letter from BKSDA on the opening of Ijen Crater. Tourists can enjoy the beauty of Ijen Crater starting on Friday (6/4/2018).

Ijen crater was closed since last Thursday (22/3). The closure followed the appearance of the boast and the explosion in the crater. The explosion resulted in the emergence of gas.


The opening of Ijen Crater in accordance with Circular Letter from the Directorate General of Natural Resources Conservation and Ecosystem BKSDA East Java, numbered SE.05 / K2 / BIDTEK.1 / KSA / 4/2018, on the Opening of the Natural Park (TWA) Ijen Crater.

According to Resort Head TWA Ijen Crater, Sigit Hari Wibowo, Ijen Crater tour re-opened for tourist visits with several provisions. Tourist visits are limited from 04.00 to 12.00 WIB. “Visitors can only come to the lip of the crater,” said Sigit.

Sigit asserted, for security and safety, tourists should not come down near the crater. Visitors may only approach up to a radius of 1 km from the crater. This provision is in accordance with the recommendation of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitogation (PVMBG) related to the last condition of Ijen Crater. Because there is still potential gas around the crater.

The same rules apply to sulfur miners. Mining activities must also be carried out in accordance with the stipulated provisions at 04.00 WIB until 12.00 WIB.
